"Praise the Lord with the lyre, make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
Sing to him a new song, play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts." Psalm 33:2-3
THE SANCTUARY CHOIR of Shades Valley Presbyterian is a group dedicated to spreading the love and lessons of Jesus Christ through music and song. The choir performs a variety of anthems in several different styles throughout the church year. In addition to these regular performances, the choir typically leads the congregation in worship twice each year through a special performance of music, stories, scriptures, and lessons. Our goal is to interpret the words of the scriptures with a fresh light and therefore help those in attendance better understand their meaning.
Participation in the choir is open to all. Practice on Wednesday nights from 7:30-8:30 immediately following the Wednesday night program. The choir gathers on Sunday mornings at 10:30. All are welcome to join the choir for one, two, or as many Sundays as they like!
THE COVENANT RINGERS handbell choir has reunited and rehearsals are held each week. There's always room for one, two or three more, if you are experienced or want to learn, join us on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for rehearsals in the music suite. Performances will be planned in the near future and publicized beforehand.
General information on the kids Wednesday night program:
The Kids' Club was started several years ago in an effort to nurture the spiritual growth of Shades Valley’s children through dramatic, musical, and artistic means. Each year the children work hard to prepare special events and worship experiences for the congregation. This might mean a musical complete with props and rehearsed lines. It could mean an art show where each work reflects a given theme or Biblical teaching. Sometimes the work will result in a complete Sunday morning worship service led by children as young as 3. Shades Valley is fortunate to have a congregation open to idea of children taking on these important and serious leadership roles.
Participation in Kids' Club events is open to all children 4 years old-5th grade. Older children are often found assisting with the activities and sometimes participating as well!
