Pastors

Taylor Todd
Senior Pastor
ttoddsvpc@bellsouth.net

Greetings!  My name is Taylor Todd and I have had the privilege and pleasure of being the minister of this caring family of Christians, known as Shades Valley Presbyterian Church, since November, 2001.
I spent my early years in Florence, Alabama and attended Rhodes College where I earned my B.S. in Religion. In the fall of 1981, I began my seminary education in Richmond, Virginia at Union Theological Seminary. I graduated in 1985 with a Doctorate of Ministry degree and accepted my first call as Associate Minister of Christian Education for the First Presbyterian Church in Washington, North Carolina.
In April of 1988, I accepted a new call to the Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Virginia, where I became their Associate Minister for Congregational Care and Development. I spent nine wonderful years in Roanoke before accepting my first call as a solo minister as the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Staunton, Virginia. Five years later, in 2001, I accepted the call to become the pastor of Shades Valley Presbyterian Church.
I am happily married to my wife, Abby. She and I dated in college and married soon after our graduation, so she and I have been on this journey together for a long time now, over 31 years.
Our only daughter, Caroline, recently married so our family is entering a new chapter in our lives.
Perhaps you are also entering a new chapter in your life, or are perhaps looking for something else to help bring a sense of purpose or completeness to your life. The congregation of Shades Valley Presbyterian Church is truly a place where there Spirit of God is at work. I hope you will come and spend some time with us, so that you too will come to know what many others have discovered about this community of Christians known as Shades Valley Presbyterian Church, "there is a sweet, sweet, spirit in this place." Come and discover that spirit today.
